Local and national politics dominate in Granite City and Duluth as figures like Judge Stearns and Bro. Stivers loom in races. Calls resurface to abolish the British Lords while Minneapolis seeks the national Republican convention. A famed writer, Dr. Burenarn, dies in New York amid controversial remarks.
Last Tuesday in convention Massachusetts Democrats favored honest money. The remark notes that across the country Democrats diverge on tariff issues, showing unity on monetary reform but division on economic policy.
The Presto Change argues for a Northern Pacific route to the Red Lake country. It favors Staples as the starting point but notes Brainerd would be a better starting point when viewed on a map.
A freight and a stock train collision near Buffalo North Dakota killed Engineer James C. Curtis and Fireman W. E. Dodge, with Brakeman Arthur Beaton badly burned and left blind. Charley Bailey suffered serious burns as cattle feed ignited, and sixteen cattle cars burned.
