Henry Feig the Republican candidate declares sufficient errors exist to warrant a recount of the congressional vote in the 7th district and will demand a recount.
The editorial urges patience for Republicans in the Sixth District, noting gains may come two years hence if Judge Searle is defeated this year. It warns against premature plans and predicts the majority party in the city could aid a Democratic candidate for Congress. The canvassing board is formed by county auditors from Morrison, Todd, Mille Lacs, Crow Wing and the oldest county commission chair. No contest expected as Republicans hold clear pluralities over the top Democrat.
The City Council met in a special session last Friday to authorize the city engineer to contract for connecting catch basins with the sewer during paving. In a regular session Monday, committees were appointed including Finance and Taxes, Streets, Sidewalks and Bridges, Fire Department and Water Works, Purchasing, Printing and City Property, Electric Lights, and Health, Sewerage and Police.
