The hanging of Harry Haywood is fixed for June 21. The Tennessee court declares the income tax law unconstitutional and orders the large collections to be refunded.
A reader notes wheat rose from 48 to 75 cents in three months and asks if silver prices rose correspondingly. The letter urges the Journal to state its position on the silver-wheat price relationship.
The statement claims that every owner of a life insurance policy, every stockholder in a building and loan association, and every depositor in a savings bank will have dues scaled down by one half through the free coinage of silver. It presents a broad, sweeping impact on all forms of money invested not payable in gold by contract.
The attorney general narrows his ruling and now says the act of the late legislature does not remove the game and fish commission. Current members will keep their offices until their commissions expire, despite others waiting to replace them.

Reports detail nationwide wage reductions under the percentage plan adopted after the Northern Pacific receivers took control in 1893. While some statements claim no cuts, multiple notices indicate ten to twenty-five percent reductions for many workers, with further adjustments set to begin June 1 for general office staff and other employes.
