The committee endorsed the measure granting women the right to vote, advancing the suffrage effort and signaling legislative support for expanding voting rights to women.
A dispatch to the dailies claims arrangements are being made in Aitkin County to compel the auditor to place on the tax rolls all unsold lands of St Paul and Duluth By Co. Charles H. Closterman and his wife Margaret faced police court action with three charges against him two for disorderly conduct and a plea to bond for peace. He was fined five dollars for minor offenses while she faced warnings from the judge who threatened the workhouse if she returned. Closterman pledged to stay away after posting a $200 bond to keep the peace in a tense domestic case reported by the Minneapolis Tribune.
The Hotel Pokegama in Grand Rapids owned by Hartley and Gunn was destroyed by fire last Thursday noon after flames started in the cupola. The loss includes a $5,000 building and $2,500 stock insured with multiple London and U.S. companies. Dan M. Gunn, the manager, was away in Brainerd. C N W Ry agent Herrick in Owatonna will honor certificates through April 16 in St Paul or Minneapolis for return trips within Minnesota at one third fare.
