Eleven Brainerd lakes area residents joined the American Heart Association Better Heart Health Challenge eight week program at Essentia Health St Josephs Medical Center Brainerd Lakes Heart and Vascular Center. Participants underwent wellness screenings and attended exercise diabetes and nutrition sessions with follow up six weeks later. A heart health online tool at Essentia Health calculates biological age and risk factors guiding prevention efforts.

MnDOT Plans in Brainerd Area to Upgrade Roads and Jobs
Rep. John Ward says MnDOT projects announced this week will create construction jobs and improve safety and mobility. The Highway 210 Baxer to Pillager repair spans 7.5 miles at about 2 million dollars with June to July work. A separate 7 million dollar Highway 371 project in Nisswa, involving city and county partners, runs July to October with partial lane shifts and a new pedestrian tunnel.

Pope washes feet of detainees at Casal del Marmo
Pope Francis washed the feet of 12 inmates at Casal del Marmo juvenile facility in Rome, continuing a Holy Thursday rite he performed as archbishop and as pope.
