Death of Mr. F. T. Dent at the White House
Mr. F. T. Dent 88 son of the wife of Gen. Grant died at the White House on December 15 1873 surrounded by his children. A genial host in St Louis near his country place he hosted visitors at his open house and enjoyed telling western life anecdotes. He was a lifelong Democrat who voted for every Democratic president except Buchanan and attended presidential inaugurations. His remains were taken to St Louis for interment escorted by Gen.
