Apprentice loses finger at lathe gear in Tuesday accident
John Corkrey an apprentice at the shops had the first finger of his right hand crushed off above the second joint when caught in lathe gearing on Tuesday afternoon. He was taken to the Sanitarium for treatment.

Conductor Bennett Injured At Pine River
Conductor Frank Bennett of the B. N. M. sustained a badly pinched foot Monday when caught between two cars at Pine River. He was taken to Lumberman's hospital Tuesday for treatment and later sent home on Ninth Street North. The foot is reported to be healing well.

Farmer Brings Forty Wolves For State Wolf Bounty
M. D. Butterfield of near Mitchell Lake reported fourteen wolves killed in the Mitchell Lake area and claimed seven dollars per animal, the largest bounty claim in the county. He also kept the wolf skins valued at twenty to twenty five dollars.

Warrant Issued for Cullen Lake Break In Suspect
On Charles Schrader’s complaint a Cullen Lake warrant was issued for John Edes for breaking into Schrader’s home last November and stealing a bedstead mattress and springs. Sheriff Erickson found Edes’ wife just delivered a child and left him unmolested to care for her.

Bessie McDonald aged 47 died at the Sanitarium on March 20 from pneumonia. She was brought from Montana for treatment and will be interred at Evergreen cemetery this afternoon if her Montana-based brother arrives in time. John Simon aged 83 died at his son Rev Simon’s home in East Brainerd on March 21 of pneumonia. Funeral services for Mr Simon are set for March 24 at 10 a.m. at the Evangelical church with Rev Milhausen and Rev Busse officiating.

City Fire Chief L. H. Stallman presents 1899 data showing fire losses at 11960 and insurance collections of 6652.84. Premiums paid by property owners total 24984.96, with department costs 1750.50 and hydrant rents 5328.70. The force includes three paid firefighters. the rest are volunteers. Hose totals reach 3500 feet with over 1000 feet ordered. Three dozen fires occurred, with incendiary, chimney, lamp, matches, overheating, and unknown origins.
