Wadena Deer Creek unveils tornado safe room at school
The 6,547 square foot reinforced safe room at Wadena Deer Creek Middle High School is ready to shelter students staff and community during severe weather. FEMA funded nearly 1 million dollars for the project which features a 125 KVA generator and robust concrete walls enabling winds up to 250 miles per hour. The facility doubles as a gym and hosts a climbing wall batting cage and emergency planning coordination with local authorities increases community safety and preparedness.
