Maryland moves to repeal death penalty in House vote
Maryland lawmakers approved abolishing the death penalty sending the bill to Governor Martin O Malley. The House voted 82 56 with eight Democrats and two Republicans for the measure and opponents warning of risks to public safety and justice. The bill would replace capital punishment with life without parole and does not retroactively affect five inmates on death row.
