The W C T U plans a Tuesday 3 PM meeting in the M A parlor with dues collection urged. J H McCauley leaves for Brainerd to take the road-master post on Brainerd and Northern railway, with The News praising his move. The Weyerhauser pine land issue faces a 5,000 acre limit law and possible repeal debate. C D Johnson is expected to be Brainerd postmaster under the new administration, with a potential relocation of the office between Front streets.

Anniversary services will be held next Sunday afternoon the 12th at St Paul Church with Geo H Davis leading the ceremony. In Gull River Mrs G A King known as Irish Nell was arrested for stealing a gold watch and chain from John Nelson. She pleaded not guilty and was bailed until trial set for yesterday. she did not appear and the case was continued. The watch was found with the bartender at Andrew Wallace s saloon who says he gave it to her.
Five year old son of Mr and Mrs J J Kennedy is ill with pneumonia. Amanda Gilbert aged 65 died at her Pillager home from dropsy and was buried at Gull River. Ida Sangola three died of spinal meningitis and will be buried Saturday. Fannie Carlton died of heart disease at 2:30 pm yesterday aged 17. funeral at Baptist church next Sunday at 3.00 led by Rev J A Jenkins.
W A writes from the 46th district disputing support for raising liability in death cases. He recalls opposing the limit, supporting amendments, and claims the delegation stayed united as the bill failed. He promises to inform the public of their winter convictions.
Democrats of Brainerd Minnesota held a Saturday banquet at the Arlington praising Grover Cleveland and tariff reform. Ed Civers, W H Mantor and others urged celebratory resolutions and sent congratulations to the president-elect.
A city observance features an oration by Hon. James Manahan of St. Paul followed by the drama Kathleen Mavourneen a St Patrick's Eve Dream with an acclaimed cast. Vocal solos by S F Alderman Mrs Redding Miss Mattie Kennedy and others, three tableaux Irelands past present and future. Admission 25 and 50 cents.
Rev. T. A. Turner of Excelsior Minn will lecture on America Tuesday evening March 14 at the First Congregational church. A brief musical program will accompany the talk. The event was postponed from February 27 due to a severe storm.
