Death by own action of railroad man Grady reported
The Minneapolis Times notes the death by hanging of John Grady a railroad worker who earlier lost both legs after being run over on a freight train. Grady, about 35, faced a pending $30,000 claim against a railroad company and received aid from Dr. Camp after hospital care. Coroner Nelson will notify relatives. Grady’s death follows a long dispute over care and a prior settlement of $3,250 in a suit against the railroad. The item also mentions local social notes and a March State Historical Society meeting on Ft Ripley led by Rev. G. C. Tanner based on a fort chaplain’s Civil War era journal.
