Daily notices report discounts at Day's cash sale with ladies fine kid shoes at 1.00 and children's shoes cheaper than ever. Other items include a 95 cent solid working shoe and a closing out sale. Local visits, weddings, and arrests are noted alongside community events and a burglary claim.
The 3rd Regiment Band plans a ball at the armory this evening with tickets priced at $1.00. The 1st Congregational Church youth group hosts an ice cream and banana social at the church parlors on Friday July 11. Germania Maennerchor to excursion on Sunday July 13 aboard the steamer Lottie. Chas Peterson has bought Geo Keough’s saloon and moved Keough family east of town. Lightning struck J J Howe’s residence Saturday night causing alarm and minor damage.
Brainerd residents face loss of key railroad staff as Staples to host West Minnesota Division headquarters with Van derslice in charge. McMullen Williams Husted Matthews Wiscott depart Brainerd for dispatcher roles. Change likely early next week.

At a June 27 special session Mayor Stivers led aldermen Wheatley Hagberg Walters Kinkele McNaughton Crawford Howe Hemstead Williamson in discussing city water mains with the Receiver. A June 30 meeting accepted the street committee report to install up to six hydrants in 22 blocks and proceeded to elect a new Board of Health member, Chas Cross, for the remainder of A E Whitney’s term.

The Mississippi Valley Lumberman notes Brainerd faces delayed Mississippi drives this year. Local paper laments late receipts of saloon license revenue, predicting a July 1 deadline to meet interest payments. It mocks saloonkeepers who may still pay up for bad whisky in large quantities.

Wisconsin Central chosen as official line for Grand and Subordinate Lodges to the Biennial Conclave in Milwaukee July 8 to 12, 1890. Special trains from Minneapolis and St Paul on July 6 7, open to public, with grand officers and delegates, and program highlights at Cold Spring Park Schlitz Park and Exposition Building. Circulars issued requesting delegate counts by July 1 and full programme details via agents in Minneapolis St Paul and Milwaukee.
