A Brainerd crowd organized a toboggan club at the Villard hotel and outlined a St Paul winter carnival visit. Four cars carry 200. 180 tickets at $3 cover major costs. Officers named F B Thompson president, E P Graves treasurer, Fred Parker secretary. The trip departs Wednesday 2:30 am and returns Thursday morning, with members in blue mackinaws and red stockings.

McGlauflin and Brockway Wed in Anoka Influence
At the residence of J N Nevers on January 27 1886 the Rev N B Kelly officiated Albion McGlauflin and Miss Aleda Brockway were united in marriage. The bride resides here with many friends and the groom is a respected Anoka man who runs a hotel. The couple departed on the 2:30 train toward their new home amid warm congratulations.
Sheriff Command To Attend State Sheriff's Meeting In St Paul
Sheriff Mertz is ordered to appear at the annual Minnesota Sheriff's Association meeting in St Paul on February 4 1886 to give evidence in the case Minnesota Sheriff's Association vs John Doe and Richard Roe. The summons, signed by Secretary Brackett, is dated January 20 1880 from Minneapolis. The notice also references local business notices about cigars and cloaks for sale.

Washington reports a favorable bill allowing the Mississippi Water Power and Boom Co of Brainerd to dam the Mississippi River. The project would create a reservoir at private expense, not public, and would not obstruct navigation aside from logs. Location is 200 miles above Minneapolis with rapids at Brainerd to be improved.
