Hon William Pitt Lynde a leading Wisconsin lawyer and public figure died at his Milwaukee home aged 68. Born December 16 1817 in Sherburne New York he graduated Yale valedictorian in 1838 and moved to Milwaukee to practice law. Lynde served as Wisconsin attorney general in 1844 United States district attorney for Eastern Wisconsin, was in the state assembly in 1866 and state senator in 1869. He later served in Congress after being elected in 1874 and reelected in 1876.
