Large forest fires are reported burning in woods north of Perham. State Auditor Braden sold about one thousand acres of barren land near Tower last Saturday at $5 to $8 per acre. The Duluth and Iron Range railroad purchased the land claiming it aimed to keep saloons and disreputable characters away.
All trains daily including Sundays operate between Minneapolis St Paul and Chicago with through car service. Chicago day express and night express originate in Chicago with connections from Milwaukee Oshkosh Neenah and Fond du Lac. Trains offer day coaches sleepers and dining cars with no change. Local offices listed in Minneapolis Nicollet House and St Paul Merchant Hotel block managers named.
About thirty men on the Northern Pacific gravel trains at Duluth walked out yesterday morning seeking a raise from 1.50 to 1.75 dollars per day. The men swiftly agreed to the terms, and by afternoon, work was resumed as normal.
