Hahn, an employee of Plankinton and Armour, was injured in their new Kansas City building and won a $7,000 verdict. The case is on appeal in the United States Supreme Court.
A new enterprise organized in the South by New Englanders is the Virginia Iron Shipbuilding Company with capital of 1,000,000 dollars. It will build iron and steel ships at Alexandria.
J. J. Green editor of the Le Sueur Sentinel has been attacked in a dispute tied to his campaign against gambling dens and prostitution. The incident comes as Le Sueur weighs support for a local effort to curb vice and clean up the city.
No cotton mills in the South have shut down and no wage cuts yet. The central issue for manufacturers is whether to reduce production by shorter hours or by lowering wages.
