Wind Upsets House Trailer Near Brady
A 45 foot house trailer overturned on U S 87 about 13 miles west of Brady at 2 50 p m Tuesday as a north wind whipped it from side to side. Damage to the trailer and to the 155 Chevrolet coach pulling it was estimated at 8500. Curtis Benson Costello 52 owner and driver was en route from Bryan Texas to Phoenix Arizona. The wreck blocked one traffic lane and the trailer was brought back to Brady piece by piece after the wrecker crew tied on a tow line and the aluminum structure crumbled. Costello said the trailer was insured.

Mrs. R. Melver Ex-Brady Teacher Buried at Trickham
Mrs. Rankin Melver formerly Frances Ruth Meek died early Sunday and was buried Tuesday at Trickham Cemetery. She taught in Brady South Ward School from 1946 to 1950 and also taught at Brookesmith and Santa Anna. Survivors include husband, daughter Sherrie Lee McIver, her mother, four brothers and three sisters.

New County Livestock Association Organized
Thirty charter members signed up as the McCulloch County Livestock Association was organized Tuesday night at the National Guard Armory. Dues start at 5 dollars with a drive through Sept. 15. City Buys New Street Sweeper And Meters Split Opinion
The City Council accepted a $7,210 bid from Central Machinery Co. of Abilene, with trade-in on the six-year-old street sweeper, due in about 10 days. They also approved Texaco oil bids for two new engines, heard Howard Broad’s 33-signature petition to remove meters, and noted shooting near Richards Park. Bids will be opened Sept 15 for leasing 55 acres of pasture near the sewage plant for two years. An audit was approved showing August fines of $296.75.
