The Brady High School Student Council sponsored a bloodmobile visit producing 49 donors. G. S. Hubbard earned a five gallon pin and Henry McBroom a four gallon pin. Seven first time donors contributed as well. The drive reached 49 of a 91 pint goal. Mrs. Gladys Salter, local Red Cross secretary, expressed thanks to the volunteers.
Three members of Boy Scout Troop 402 sponsored by First United Methodist Church will receive the Eagle Award in a 7 30 p m ceremony in the church Fellowship Hall. honorees are Jackie Smith Greg Jordan and Darrell Keese. Presenters include John King Ballinger district coordinator Pug Peneau Ballinger district vice chairman and Lew White former Tri Rivers District Executive.
A light frost touched vegetation and car tops across Heart of Texas on Wednesday as official readings showed 31 degrees. Weather observer Jean Williams logged 31 degrees again Thursday with frost failing to return, while residents continued to wear coats and sweaters in cool conditions with a chance of showers later in the week.
The swine flu shot clinic tentatively set for Sunday October 24 has been postponed again according to Mrs. Billy Jones. A new date will be announced when vaccine becomes available. Residents seeking vaccination should consult their doctor.
Alderman Kenneth Young resigned citing business demands. Ed Davenport, native of McCulloch County and president of Ed Davenport Inc., appointed to fill the unexpired term to April 1, 1977. The council approved a $235,000 lake repair plan with city share about $62,320 and SCS funding around $152,679.
Brady Schools Supt. Carroll Tatum and Board President Johnny Rudder received a letter from Gov. Dolph Briscoe. The governor praised the detailed letter and said Education Resources studies will be released Nov 1 1976 and urged a balanced education bill fair to all Texas districts.
