Harold L. Stephens of Eden has bought the Duncan Chevrolet Co. and took over the business Monday. He and his wife and 12 year old daughter moved to Brady, living at Stanburn Apartments, and invite locals to visit the new dealership.
Fifth grade students at South Ward Elementary took part in a Fire Prevention Poster Contest after studying fires and their causes during National Fire Prevention Week. Girls winners were Kimberly Petty, Sam Day, and Melanie Reeves, while boys winners were Tip Ross, Justin Caylor, and Rodney Young.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department announces antlerless deer permits for McCulloch County will be issued at the Chamber of Commerce on Oct 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Landowners or their agents may apply during that period. Maps showing issuance rates and compartments will be posted at the County Courthouse beforehand.

ASCS elections for community committees will be held in late November with terms starting January 1 1972. Nominations by petition determine the slate. six nominees needed per community or the incumbent slate fills remaining spots. Ballots mailed by November 19 to eligible voters including spouses. petitions due by October 27.
Bill Haley, Lt. Governor of Division 12, Texas Oklahoma District Kiwanis International, spoke at Brady Kiwanis Club and led the installation of officers for 1971 72. Steve Black became president with Myron Mays first vice president Joe Fuller second vice president Charles Darley secretary and David Doty treasurer. Directors named were Tommy Brook Zane Sessions August Steelhammer Elbert Boswell L A Gotcher and Herb Cav ness.
Purcell reports Brady Chamber of Commerce activity over the past month. Attendance included 100 at a Texas Muzzle Loading Rifle Association event, 100 with Veterans of World War I, and a district Garden Clubs meeting in November. Plans include a Christmas program and memorials for the hospital fund.
The Kimble Menard County Singing Convention meets at 2 p m Sunday in the Hext Baptist Church with participants from local churches expected to attend.
