Miss Gibret Lyckman 64 of Brady died at 4 15 a m Tuesday in Brownwood Community Hospital after a brief illness. Services were held Wednesday at 1 p m in Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Rev Warren Ellis. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery. She was a Brady native, nurse and anesthetist at Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital, a 1934 Brady Hospital School of Nursing graduate, and studied anesthesia at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston. She returned to Brady in 1964 and was a Trinity Methodist Church member. Survivors include her mother, two sisters, six brothers and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers listed.
A Georgetown bi district volleyball game sees Caldwell students and staff flood the gym, cheering relentlessly as Caldwell defeats Brady in spirit and momentum. The Brady team, though nervous yet capable, faces overwhelming school support from Caldwell, altering the contest’s mood and intensity.
Mrs. Thelma Carolyn Sheppard 67 of Brady died at 2 30 a m Tuesday at Leisure Lodge. Funeral services were held at 4 p m in Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Dr Bill Boswell pastor. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery. Surviving are three daughters Mrs Wilburn Shearer Mason Mrs Jim Stutler Mansfield and Mrs Bo Stephens McCamey a son William Dale Sheppard Columbus Ohio 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The obituary notes she was a longtime Brady resident and former secretary for Sunset Motor Lines. Von Ray Bracy Sr. 59 of Brady died at 4 30 a m Tuesday after a long illness at Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital. Services 4 p m Friday in Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Dr Bill Christian Church conducting burial Rest Haven. Born Feb 4 1916 in Erie Oklahoma he married Mozelle Evans July 24 1934 in Portales New Mexico. He lived in Brady 25 years was a carpenter and First Christian Church member. Survivors include his wife two sons Von Ray Bracy Jr of Teheran Iran and Lee Roy Bracy of San Angelo a brother Vance Bracy Magda Utah two sisters Verne Shelton Sherman and Inez Greene Norwalk California 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A citizens' group opposed rezoning around the old Brady Hospital building and a Dec 2 hearing was set for the zoning board to consider changing from Commercial D to Commercial E. The council discussed ambulance service, lake lot bids, retirement payments, and space needs for Curtis Field aircraft after an executive session.
