At Pearl Harbor, Smitty tours the Navy submarine Swordfish. Commander Lt. Comdr. R S Leddick departs, submarine specs include 267 feet, 2500 tons, 85 crew. A brief escape tank demo and a patient with bends are noted during the visit.
Quarterback Charles Reynolds and halfback Harry Bowden lead Brady scoring with 95 and 89 points respectively. Through Hillsboro bi district, Brady has 348 to 88. Bowden tops ground gain with 896 yards on 126 carries. Reynolds has 678 yards on 103 carries and 50 completions in 92 attempts for 1025 yards with 12 TDs.
Hearne, unbeaten District 19-AA champion, faces Brady in Killeen for a Friday regional showdown. Finalists advance to state AA quarters. Hearne relies on speedy backs led by Simon Martinez and end Tommy Dotson, while Brady counters with a high-scoring offense. Über local crowd plans split seating. tickets go on sale midafternoon. A special venue of 120 men and women is summoned next Monday at 9 a.m. in 35th District Court for jury selection in the murder trial of W A Stone. Stone, 45, is charged with murder with malice in the shooting death of his wife Jacklyne, 37, at their home on August 27. He is held without bond in McCulloch County jail and is represented by attorney John William Hughes.

Brady businessmen and McCulloch County farmers honored the American farmer at a National Farm City Week banquet held at the First Methodist Church. Dolph Briscoe Jr. of Uvalde lauded U S farm productivity and warned of rising population demanding greater output. He urged continued brand inspections to deter cattle rustling and highlighted 31 inspectors across Texas.
Miss Doris Goodrich Jones of Waco brings a 50 minute puppet show to Brady Theater Saturday at 10 30. The Beta Sigma Phi sorority sponsors tickets 25 cents for children up to junior high and 50 cents for others. Proceeds benefit March of Dimes Community Chest American Cancer Society and the Foundation for Retarded Children of Texas.
Bill Lively of Austin son of Martin Lively and the late Mrs. Lively former Bradyites and grandson of C. E. Terry of Brady has joined the Austin agency of American General Life Insurance Company as a special representative in training.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert C. Striegler and their daughter Michele of Casper Wyoming are visiting the Striegler and Engdahl families. They arrived last Saturday and will stay ten days with Cecil Striegler and George Engdahl's kin.
