Buckner Boys Help Burnet Bulldogs Push Toward Bi-District

Burnet High enters bi district play with a 9-1 record led by Buckner Ranch players Quarterback Jesse Perkins Dudley Kinsey and Larry Gentry. Perkins a three year starter and 163 pounds directs the offense and defends well Kinsey leads District 9 A in rushing and total yardage while Gentry a 175 pound senior is a top pass catcher and left end. Other Buckner contributors include Gene Ekrut Robert Nicholson James Price and Bobby Nichols. Burnet has shut out six opponents and allowed only 31 points in 10 games. Albany looms Friday as Burnet seeks another win after a 3 7 loss to San Saba.

Doctor Thanks Brady Police for Buck Story

A Gainesville doctor thanked Brady Patrolman Ward Christian after being stopped for speeding on Friday morning. He had been hunting but rushed back to Gainesville to deliver a baby, and a letter with the newborn's footprint arrived later to confirm the tale. The boy was born at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Brady to Host First Round Of Playoffs

Albany Lions, two consecutive state Class A champions, are the favorites in the bi district playoff against Burnet Bulldogs at Brady's Bulldog Stadium Friday night. Tickets cost 1.50 and 0.75 in advance, 2 and 1 at the gate. Albany enters with a long playoff history and two state titles under coach Harold Parrett, who recently took over the program.

Brady Man Wins 63 Pickup Truck At Convention

August Steelhammer owner of Farmers Supply Company Brady won the grand prize a fully equipped 1963 Dodge pickup at the Massey Ferguson Bonus Fair in New Orleans. Prize presented at the Bonus Breakfast. The convention ran Thursday through Saturday. Mr and Mrs Steelhammer visited the French Quarter and returned home Sunday.

The Water Planning Committee urges selling Brady Lake building lots with water and electric service to create a lake development plan. Brady Bulldogs and Pupettes open basketball seasons

The Brady Bulldogs open Saturday at home in the BHS gym with the B team at 7 p m and the A game following against Cooper of Abilene. Tickets cost 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for students. The Pupettes start Tuesday at home against Eldorado with a 6 30 p m B game, and will play four home games before district play in January.
