Brady seeking another hearing before the State Board of Water Engineers on the city’s water permit. Fort Worth attorney Alex Pope Jr. says two requests for a new date have been made, with a possible date not before December 1. A five hour hearing in Austin Oct. 19 was recessed for more information from engineers for Brady’s reservoir, opposed by Eden.

All American Bobby Weise Named to 1959 Track Team

Bobby Weise, 1956 Brady Hick graduate and University of Houston senior, earns a 1959 All America track berth chosen by the National Collegiate Track Coaches Association. Despite a bad knee, he threw the discus 165 feet 6 inches for second at the NCAA meet. His 168-8 toss last May set a Missouri Valley Conference record.

Brady Belton Game Expected Sellout Weather to Decide

A near sellout crowd is expected for the Brady versus Belton football game Friday night. Tickets are $1.50 at the gate for adults and students. Brady fans and band sit on the west side with parking on that lot. Belton visitors sit on the east. The Belton Band, The Marching Hundred, has 100 members and the pep squad 65. Coffee and cookies will be offered to Belton guests at the high school before the game. A souvenir program for 25 cents includes team pictures coaches and lineups.

Petitions Seek Johnson Presidency Signed by Local Residents

A total of 1,012 Mc Culloch County residents signed petitions circulated by the Lyndon B. Johnson for President Club asking the Texas senator to be available as president for all U S citizens. Remaining petitions should be turned in to The Standard office or Ben Davis Geeslin, club president, for forwarding to Johnson's office. Unsigned supporters may find a petition at The Standard office until Saturday noon.

Power cut planned at Brady Water & Light plant

The Brady Water and Light plant will have power shut off at midnight Saturday for about two to three hours to connect new switchgear with the old and prepare two new engines for service. City superintendent James C. Feazelle said a weekend outage is most convenient but weather could delay it.
