The Brady Independent School District trustees approved two policy regulations at a regular board meeting. The new drug abuse policy allows expulsion for possession use or being under the influence of marijuana narcotics hallucinogens hypnotics sedatives or non prescribed chemicals and alcohol. A dress policy recommendation was also approved.
Brady coach Del Wilson brings the league leading 6-1-1 Bulldogs to Burnet to clash with a 5-3 Burnet squad 2-1 in district. Burnet recently beat San Saba 49-27, while Brady seeks to extend its unbeaten district run and avoid a tie or loss that could shift the race. Injury notes: Steve Kyzar doubtful with a sprained ankle. Kenny Penn and Jay Bean back in action.
McCulloch County voters backed the Democratic slate in Texas state races with light turnout 2122 of 3864. Local race saw Joe Barekman defeat write in Joe Myrick for Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 by 560 to 193. Voters approved most amendments but rejected Amendment No. 2 liquor by the drink. Governor Preston Smith and other statewide incumbents won big across the count.
The Kiwanis Club of Brady will hold charter night at 7 30 p m Monday in the Brady Schools Cafeteria with Brownwood Kiwanis as sponsor. Jean Williams is named president with Steven Black vice president John Bucy secretary and David Doty treasurer. Directors include Ed Whiteley Dr Myron Mays Elbert Boswell Tommy Brooks August Steelhammer L A Gotcher and Chas Darley. Guests include John Galloway district 12 Lt Governor and Hugh Hornsby III past Texas Oklahoma Governor.
Marble Falls hosts JV and Frosh games with Brady and San Saba in Thursday lineup. Includes junior high clashes at Marble Falls with 8th and 7th grade BJHS teams.
Texas election bureau reports 253 of 254 counties counted at 6 p.m. with major race tallies for U S Senator Governor and other statewide offices. Ballot measures show support levels on retirement of judges liquor by the drink farm assessments building commission road bonds homestead exemptions and office consolidations.
