Mr and Mrs Dick Swenning hosted a Sunday afternoon birthday party for their son Al Joel observing his first birthday. Guests included Brady residents and relatives from Rochelle Claude and Easton with balloons cake gifts and photos forming a festive family gathering.
Dora Bradley Circle of the First Methodist Church met at Mrs N S Lawler Sr home with Mrs Bradley giving a devotional from the Book of St John. Refreshments were served to several attendees including Mrs Norman Archer Mrs Bradley Co L Elliott G A Sheffield Ed Broad James T Mann A T Barton Bessie Trewitt Ben Strickland Clyde Windrow Mrs Bierman and Miss Clara Marsden.
A Cub Scout pack meeting at First Christian Church featured a training film on achievements in Cub Scouting. Awards were presented by Cub master W L Taylor including Wolf and Bear ranks. new Bobcat pins were awarded to five members. dens displayed handicraft work. an educational bee skit was performed and a marshmallow race held.
The Mercury Home Demonstration Club met Thursday of that week. Mrs Sim Gamblin gave the council report. Christmas decorations gift wrappings and table decorations were discussed by the group. Mrs Gamblin displayed a house made of sugar cubes with cotton sprinkled with Christmas snow all around it. Miss Alma Hughes gave a suggestion on how to make a Christmas wreath. Those present were Wimes Charles Johnson Ralph Johnson Wes Bennett Alpha Bckert Vernon Bartlett D S Pumphrey D Cox Sim Gamblin A J Rackley Chester Penn and Miss Alma Hughes.
Coaches C. D. York and Edward Whiteley spoke at the Sport Boosters Club meeting at Romans Patio on Monday night about football and its problems. New members Eitel Hahn Mrs J W McBride and Mrs Tommy Kyzar joined. Officers elected were Mrs McBride treasurer Mrs Gordon Appleton secretary and Mrs L D Mask reporter. Next meeting set for November 8 at 7 30 p m at Romans El Patio with parents and sports fans invited.
