Social Security Program Affects Income Guidelines
A new program allows limited retirement income to not reduce supplemental security payments. The first $20 monthly retirement income including Social Security generally won’t affect federal payments. Individuals may work and still qualify for these payments. The first $65 of monthly earnings won’t count toward SSI, and only half of remaining earnings will count.
New Federal Supplemental Security Income Starts January
San Angelo officials remind that starting January 1974 the Federal Supplemental Security Income program replaces state aid for aged blind and disabled people with low income. Eligible individuals 65 or older or blind or disabled will receive at least 130 dollars monthly for singles and 195 dollars for couples, with prior state payments preserved.
