Fire Sweeps Rudder Drug Store in Brady
A fast moving fire destroyed the Rudder Drug Store on Brady’s square about 10 45 a m Wednesday gutting the two story rock building in 45 minutes The owner John Rudder 55 was burned and his son Johnny Jr 5 helped evacuate customers and call the fire department The blast from carbon disulfide ignited a center prescription area and firemen faced acidic fumes as they battled the blaze Several residents and two firefighters were hospitalized but all survived with varying injuries Firefighters on the scene included W B Lawrence Hank Pimm Joe McAnally and L A Gotcher Pimm narrowly escaped a fall through the roof while recovering his life saving actions.

Willborn Myers returns to Rochelle High School as assistant coach after election by the Rochelle School Board. A 1956 Rochelle graduate, he now graduates from Howard Payne College where he captains the track team. Myers played football and basketball in high school and won the 1956 Class B mile at state meet and 1955 Brady Relays mile. Brady Junior Golf Tourney Draws 75 Players
About 75 young golfers are expected Saturday for Brady's fourth annual Junior Golf Tournament at the Country Club. Civil Defense Class May Be Organized in Brady
Brady schools plan another civil defense class for interested residents. A meeting is set at the Brady High Library at 7 30 p m on Monday May 16 to enroll. All materials are free and there is no tuition. The course spans 12 hours and more than 200 people have already completed it.
