Man Grades Strangers by Name Memory in National Tour

George Bailey of Slate Lick Pennsylvania makes a living by learning the names of about 20 000 strangers. He travels to luncheon clubs and conventions and aims to recall each person’s name after meeting them. Bailey says he misses about one in 300 names this year and charges 5 if he misnames someone. He learned by paying attention repeating names and writing them down, a skill developed over 15 years while touring after IRS work.
