Observation of Sorosis entertaining BHS honor students with a program honoring graduating seniors and Future Teachers of America members, featuring senior members and sponsors guiding the event at the organization’s gathering.
The audience attended a Tuesday evening Beulah TM party at Nichards Memorial Library Cueste. Guests received rose centerpieces, an owl diploma badge, and a lesson book titled Treadin an Riting an Rith metic. Mrs. Akins led arithmetic and geography lessons as Marcia Tittle, queen nominee, was welcomed with a gift, followed by refreshments and memory work.
Mrs Glenn Kittle left Midland Monday for Los Angeles where she will be a guest for two weeks of her son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Doyle Todd and their son Jack. She is accompanied by her sister in law Mrs Lindsey Kittle of Mailin who will visit her brother in Stockton California.
New officers for the Melvin Twentieth Century Club were installed May 2 in Brownwood. Mrs. Raymond Murray became president with Mrs. BE Murray as vice president and Mrs. Frank MacReynolds as secretary. Details list numerous committee members across program civic finance publications education and gifts. Retiring president Mrs. Omer Hall cited past community drive projects and support before supper for 18 members and four guests.
The Womens Auxiliary to District VII TSCA installs new officers led by president Mrs Ollie Deaton of Abilene with vice president Mrs A L Tarlton of Brownwood and secretary treasurer Mrs Ralph Perkins of Abilene. District Director Mrs Wm Patillo of Colorado City and historian Mrs Tholbert Smith of Abilene also serve. Mrs Ollie Deston reads the message regarding Mrs S Turley San Angelo as Chiropractic Woman of the Year recipient and bronze plaque presented by Mrs William Olin.
The Brady Standard photographer will take posed color photographs at the Junior-Senior prom on May 11. A prom packet with two 5x7s and four wallet pictures costs $5, with a $1 deposit required before the photo session. Orders may be placed at The Standard office or at the prom.
The Rochelle Study Club will hold its annual Spring Dinner on Monday May 12 at 8 p.m. at the Plateau Restaurant. Rev Bruce Coggin of St Matthew's Comanche and St Mary's Hamilton will speak on The Best Is Yet To Be. Mrs B A Hallam of Brady will install officers for 1968 69.
A meeting of all Senior Class parents is set for Monday night at 7 30 p m in the Home Making Department at Brady High School. All parents are urged to attend.
Mrs Willhelm returned home from the State TEWC Convention in Austin where she represented the Sorosis Club. The club earned two awards bringing its total to ten in district and state competitions, with the yearbook and pressbook both placing third in state.
