On June 5 and 7 1912 residents organized a large community barbecue in a box car setting with 1050 attendees. The event featured a morning program led by J M Quicksall with Thomas Bell giving the opening address and several speakers entertaining the crowd before dinner.
The Brady report describes a large barbecue for about a thousand attendees with 530 adults fed, followed by political speeches, a hot baseball game won 12 to 11, and multiple amusements. It notes plans to issue $2,000 in bonds for a new school building and a German Latin class for local students. It also covers local marriage news, street naming ordinance, and wishes for the Goodson Buckingham wedding.
