Rudder and White to headline Brady July Jubilee parade

Land Commissioner Earl Rudder and Agriculture Commissioner John C Waite travel from Austin for Brady’s July 4 parade. Navy Rear Admiral R S Clarke will be grand marshal, heading an event with 122 units. Jets from Goodfellow AFB and Navy jets may fly over before the 10 a.m. start.

Lohn High School Class of 1937 Reunites at Richards Park

The Lohn High School senior class of 1937 met for a reunion at Richards Park after two decades apart. Eleven of nineteen members attended with spouses and three former teachers. Notables included J W Browning from Oklahoma City and Arvid Ludwick stationed at Goodfellow AFB.

Blankets Prize Won By Jubilee Race Winners

Nelin Named Communications Chief at Grand Turk AFB

Cecil RO Nelin of Brady is appointed communications manager at Grand Turk Air Force Base. He has worked with RCA Service Company on the Missile Test Project since mid January and was transferred from Mongacne Puerto Rico after a home visit in April. His post, effective late May, oversees all base communications facilities including radio, VHF, dial telephone, teletype, a submarine cable terminal and missile data switching systems.

Religious Service Sunday to Launch Jubilee Week

Religious service will open Jubilee Week with a Sunday gathering led by church leaders. Foreman on the job hoped to finish early but work continued as crews prepared for events.

Trinity Professor to Speak at Brady Jubilee Week Service

M A Stuckey, Trinity University religion professor in San Antonio, will deliver the sermon at a Sunday Jubilee Week union religious service in Brady. The event, second annual, is hosted by the Brady Ministerial Alliance with local ministers and a city choir directed by Jimmy Herrington. If rain, the service moves to Brady High School auditorium.

Little Rosa Receives Left Foot Surgery In San Antonio

Rosita Soto a 12yearold Mexican girl has had her left foot operated on at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio the second procedure after the right foot surgery on June 12 Her condition Tuesday night was described as wonderfully well The doctor chose to proceed with the left foot rather than wait six months and recovery may take months with wheel chair use before walking again Immigration issues for her mother Maria Soto have been resolved with a sixmonth extension of entry permit Brady supporters have sent letters and gifts including shoes plans to visit Brady may follow once healing progresses

Next Week Papers Advance One Day for Holiday Schedule

The July Independence Day falls on a Tuesday and marks the first day of a three day Dixie celebration. The Brady Herald plans an early edition with afternoon publication on July 1, while the Brady Standard will be printed Wednesday afternoon. Thursday is a legal holiday and many stores close. Correspondents and advertisers are urged to submit early copy to aid next week’s edition.

Brady Creek Project Near Halfway Milestone in Texas Work

The Brady Creek flood control project in the Middle Colorado watershed advances with bids opened for two dams on Brady Creek. Roland L. Scherer of Weatherford won the contract for both dams with a low bid of 890 091 458. Dams are at Site 5 on the J A Harkrider Estate and Site 6 on the John Bratton ranch, southwest of Brady. Scherer is currently at Site 23 in Concho County on property of Lee Stephens and Carl Pfluger.
