A campaign rally for the Miss Heart O Texas nominees is set for Saturday at 7 30 in Pulldog Stadium. Voters can meet all the contestants with their campaign managers who will present a five minute program each. Ballots will be distributed as spectators enter and the pageant winner is crowned next Thursday in Jubilee Stadium.
The annual McCauloch County 4-H Dress Revue will be staged Friday night at 8 o clock at the South Ward School auditorium Pomers. Posters advertising the revue are in show windows around town by each 4-H Club, with best posters to be recognized. Senior and junior winners will represent the county at the district revue in San Angelo in August. adult 4-H leaders and senior members from Liano will serve as judges.
Next week marks the 37th Jubilee in Brady as Bill Hames' Shows and Rides begin at Richards Park Monday night. The late Bill Hames inspired the event. his daughter Mary Helen Brown and son Buster carry on the tradition with the show.
A Scotch Foursome will be held Sunday starting at 1 30 p m at the municipal golf course under sponsorship of the Heart of Texas Golf Association and the Brady Women’s Golf Association. A barbecue will follow at the clubhouse and all members prospective members and others interested are invited.
Six Brady nurses traveled to Corpus Christi for the Texas League of Vocational Nurses state convention. Ora Nell Cavin LVN Brady Hospital was elected state president as dignitaries spoke on the theme These Hands. The Brady group enjoyed a boat ride and a Saturday bus trip to Padre Island Port Aransas Aransas Pass and back. Attendees: Cavin Velma Scasta Grace Williams Ruth Akins Angelita Torrez Maude Berquist. They returned Sunday with plans for the next annual gathering.
Young swimmers from Brady attend city pool classes join a free Water Carnival at 7 30 p m Monday at Moniepal Golf Course pool. Forest Hanson directs as divers Shad Longenette and Jeese Marsh perform plus races exhibitions and a hairy educated ape act.
Band director James Mallow calls senior members to a brief rehearsal at 7 p m on Wednesday July 1 in the high school band hall. The Brady Bulldog Band will march in the July Jubilee parade at 10 a m on Friday July 3.
Miss Texas will ride in Beaumont July Jubilee parade in a spanking new Oldsmobile convertible. Hicks Campbell, local Olds dealer, ordered the model for Jeanne Amacker a University of Texas student and real life Miss Texas. She will be accompanied by her mother in the parade.
Mr and Mrs J D Hampton and four children who spent two and a half years in Kabul Afghanistan are due in Brady for the Jubilee next week. They left Kabul in June via Jerusalem and Rome. They boarded the SS Constitution in Rome on June 15 and docked in New York around June 28. They will sightsee in New York for three days before flying to Dallas where they will meet sister Gloria Wat.
The McCulloch County Singing Convention meets Sunday at 2 PM at Central Baptist Church in Brady. Anyone interested in gospel singing is invited to attend.
Carolyn Huffman president of Rochelle FHA Chapter is one of 160 Texas girls chosen to represent at the National FHA meeting in Chicago July 13 17. Delegates depart San Antonio July 11 and return July 18. The theme Education An Endless Challenge aims to boost lifelong education family living and community interest with talks by Dr Ned Bryan Dr Robert Schaefer and Dr Grose Evans. Carolyn is a Rochelle High School senior daughter of Mr and Mrs K W Huffman Jr.
Luke Vogel, chairman of the riders in the July Jubilee parade, says horsemen will meet between the Auction Barn and Memory Lane on the San Angelo highway the morning of the parade. Prizes will go to the best dressed cowboy and cowgirl in both junior and senior divisions. Vogel expects entries from riders’ clubs in other towns.
