Sir BHS Tackle Signs Letter With Hardin-Simmons

Norris Wright of Brady High signed a football scholarship letter to attend Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Sam Wright and graduates from Brady High with three football letters. He was a second team Texas Sports Writers Association all state pick and 1956 Brady team top lineman. also a Golden Gloves heavyweight in high school.

Hagler grandparents welcome Garnet Yvonne in Oxnard

Mr. and Mrs Fred Babel of Oxnard California announce the birth of their daughter Garnet Yvonne on June 5. Grandparents Mr and Mrs Dack Hagler and Mrs Jeanne Hagler are cited as the baby’s relatives. Miss Allie Hagler travels to California for a three week visit with the Babels.

Mrs Riddell and Mrs Fisher Attend Rayette Show in San Antonio

Mrs Mack Riddell and Mrs Alfred Fisher attended the Ray ette show at the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio last Sunday. They then traveled to Blanco to visit Mrs Fisher's parents Mr and Mrs E D Pantermuehl before returning home Monday.

Brady National To Show Newly Remodeled Home

Brady National Bank to hold open house Saturday from 1 to 5 pm to unveil remodeled quarters. Officers and directors will host as the bank showcases mahogany panel walls glass brick a light ceiling and new climate and entrance upgrades. The bank, chartered in 1905, moved its main entrance and added officers’ quarters with new carpeting.

Kiddie Section Added to Parade for July Jubilee

A special Kiddies Section is added to the July Jubilee parade for children aged 6 to 12. Ray Cates chairs the section and says entries may include clowns acts costumes or decorated bicycles but no motor scooters. Children assemble about 40 minutes before the parade on the Roddie & Company lot behind Pat McShane's on North Bridge.

Ex Mayor Rudder sues city after home flooded

Texas Land Commissioner and ex Brady mayor Earl Rudder filed a $6,000 suit against the City of Brady over water damage to his vacant home at 605 West 18th. He says the city caused damage by turning on water to water trees after tenants left, with flooding lasting days before discovery.

Nine Girls Nominated for 1957 July Jubilee Queen

Election set for June 22 at the Courthouse in Brady to choose a Jubilee queen from nine nominees led by Sandra Barton and Mary Sue Bratton. Diane Roddie will reign this year, coronation on July 5, with crown handover to the 1957 queen.

Jubilee Campaign Rally At Brady Theatre Tuesday Night

A campaign rally for the Jubilee will be held at the Brady Theatre next Tuesday night June 18 at o oclock. Nine nominees with their chosen future queens will be presented. Absentee Voting Opens for Judges Race

Absentee voting in the judges race begins Monday June 17 at 9 am at City Drug Store election judge H M Deaton assisted by Mrs J R Cochran. Only voters absent from the county on election day June 22 are eligible and absentee voting ends Friday June 21 at 6 pm.
