B 36 and Wrestlers Thrill Fort Worth Boys Trip

A group of 37 boys ages 9 to 17 on the Chamber of Commerce feeding program traveled to Fort Worth this week with chaperones and guides. They toured the stockyards and Carter Field, watched WBAP TV color demonstrations, visited the zoo, saw wrestling, and viewed Carswell Air Force Base and a B 36 from Tuesday. Winners in the program were to be announced this week.

Pastor Resigns From North Brady Church

The Rev. A. D. Corder, pastor of the North Brady Baptist Church for a year, resigned effective June 4. He will begin western mission work with a revival in Rupert Idaho. He and his wife have two children, Carolyn and Ansel, and a pulpit committee is seeking a successor.

High Winds and Dust Hit McCulloch County

Powerful winds and dust swept across McCulloch County Tuesday night causing crop and outbuilding damage. In Brady power lines shorted and street lights were knocked out until the wind eased. On G. D. Bells farm north of Brady a chicken house was destroyed.

Five McCulloch County boys left Rochelle to attend the 4-H Club encampment at Texas A&M Adjunct near Junction. Names are Jon Wirdell Mack Porter Jerry Tedder Carroll Anderson all of Rochelle and Bud Rudder of Brady. They travel with County Agent A R Grote and return Friday.

From Lubbock Mr and Mrs G P Stark and family and Miss Jeanne Hagler visited the Jack Haglers last weekend. The Rev LeRay Fowler pastor of the First Baptist Church was in St Louis this week for the Southern Baptist Convention. He left by plane Monday morning and will return Saturday evening, planning to attend both services at his church Sunday.

Trans-Texas Airway Marks First Brady Month

Trans-Texas Airway completed its first Brady month with 55 passengers. Les Ellett, station manager, said the figure is not bad for a debut and expects more travelers as awareness grows of the new air service. The CAB typically requires at least 100 passengers per month to continue service.

Increased Flood Funds Approved by Senate

The Senate approved higher flood prevention appropriations, adding 500000 to the Soil Conservation Service program. The Agriculture Department will use the total 7482000 for flood control, with debate still to resolve House Senate differences in a conference committee. Senator Lyndon Johnson pledged effort to boost Brady Creek allocations.

Grass Fire Extinguished at 1004 South Cypress Street

Firefighters from Brady responded Wednesday afternoon to a grass fire between a fence and a garage at 1004 South Cypress Street. The blaze, reported between 3 and 3:30 p.m., caused no damage, said Fire Chief Howard Salter.

PTA Sponsors Free X Rays to Detect TB in Brady

City Council PTA organizes a four day mobile chest X-ray drive in Brady to screen residents aged 15 and up for tuberculosis. The 1954 Brady summer recreation program opens next Monday featuring the city pool, the first Little League game at Richards Park, and the start of story hour tennis instruction and recreation periods.
