Fields Named Principal At East China Ward

Willie Ray Fields, Brady High School history and business teacher, accepted the principal post at the new East China Elementary School. He is a Brady graduate with a UT BA and a Sul Ross master's due this summer. Fields is married to Barbara Holt. they have three children. Superintendent Reynolds praised his caliber and youth for the leadership role.

Rotary Governor to Visit Brady for Official Rotary Events

Helmuth Schuenemann Sr. of Kenedy, District 584 Rotary Governor, will visit Brady Monday night and Tuesday to meet Brady Rotary Club officers and assembly. He will deliver his official club visit Tuesday at noon with his wife joining him. Schuenemann, UT law graduate 1929, has served Karnes County as attorney and as state representative, wrote Karnes County Story in 1954, and remains a long-time Kenedy Rotary member with Civil Law as his classification.

Brady National Bank marks sixty years serving Brady and surrounding counties with an open house Saturday July 10 from 2 to 6 pm. The event invites the public with refreshments and souvenirs.

Petition for Brady alcohol sale election sent to clerk

The petition to permit sale of all alcoholic beverages for on premises consumption in Brady was sent to the County Clerk Thursday. Clerk certified 697 signatures as eligible voters. The petition will go to the Commissioners Court Monday and an election will be called within 20 to 30 days from that meeting.

DE Courses Sought For Brady High

Brady School Board approved insurance on new school buildings and contents at 503000 to be shared by nine agents. It also applied for Distributive Education and a DE homemaking unit to join Brady High curriculum. State approval anticipated. Classes split half day each for students not planning college. Local employer involvement to train students. Furniture purchase for living dining area of new homemaking building approved.

A. C. Bud Oldham retires as Rest Haven Cemetery caretaker after 34 years with the city. The City Council approved a new motor control for well No. 3 and accepted Lloyd Harris’s resignation from the electrical department. Applications are being taken for the vacancy.

Paul Huntington, BHS golf coach, plans to start high school and junior high golf programs this week. High school players will meet at the course at 8 a.m. Saturdays, while junior high players meet at 3 30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Lowell C Lewis aged 52 of Jal New Mexico died July 5 from a heart attack in Shamrock Texas. He was born December 20 1913 in San Angelo. Funeral was held in Kermit at 3:30 p m Thursday. Richards Memorial Library Reading Program Attracts 280 Enrollees

The Richards Memorial Library hosts a busy July reading drive with 240 children enrolled in a summer program running through August 20. The State Library sponsors certificates for kids who read 12 books, while adults and college students also participate in research and pleasure reading. New memorial books are being ordered weekly as the library plans a recommended list from its book committee.

Sister of Bradyite Dies At Coleman

Mrs. J. D. Weathers 55 of Santa Anna died at 16 p m Wednesday at Coleman's Over all Memorial Hospital. She was a sister of Mrs. J H Goodgion of Brady and a niece of J L Goodgion of Brady.
