Gas Line Break Threatens Brady Homes in Cold Weather
An Empire Southern Gas Co. main line broke just east of the West Commerce Street bridge, causing pressure loss at 7:50 a m. and forcing shutdown of local industrial customers to keep gas for homes and schools. Crews worked into the morning to locate the buried six foot deep break under the creek bed, blamed on pipe contraction in 20 degree weather. Service was expected to be restored to industries later Thursday. Gas travels from Brown and Coleman counties along the Santa Anna highway.
