W R Parsons of Zavala County credited home grown grains with boosting calf weight by about 150 pounds and lifting sale prices to 19 cents a pound for heavy calves and 17 for lighter ones. He fed five pounds of mixed milo and begani per one pound cottonseed reed meal starting in August, costing about 7.50 per head and yielding over 20 dollars profit per calf. He plans more grain storage space.
