Brady completes new sewer disposal plant under inspection

Brady has completed the new sewer disposal plant started in 1963 and is undergoing inspection by Fresco Nichols and Endress. City officials say minor corrections are needed and service will begin in a few days as the outfall line to Willie Washington Park nears completion. The project cost 205072 with federal and bond funding supporting half.

City hires pound man to curb dog troubles

Brady city officials will employ a dog catcher for a month starting January 15 after a City Council meeting. With many untagged dogs roaming the streets and rabies cases in McCulloch County, all dogs must be licensed and vaccinated or be impounded and destroyed if unclaimed.

Jack Kelso 58 Dies in Corpus Christi Home

Melvin Arvey Kelso known as Jack Kelso, 58, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at his Corpus Christi home. Funeral held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mason Church of Christ with burial in Wagram Cemetery. An automobile salesman, he had been ill for years. Born Oct. 2, 1906 in Mason County, he lived in Brady before moving to Corpus Christi. Survived by three sisters Mrs. A. C. Maynard of Big Spring, Mrs. Calvin Parker of Crane, Mrs. Dick Parker of Brady. three brothers Ellis Kelso of Brady, W. R. Kelso of San Antonio, W. D. Kelso of Mason.

Mrs Roy Ellison accepts the McCulloch County chairmanship for the 1965 March of Dimes. The January fund drive runs from Jan 7 to Jan 30. She urges public action against birth defects citing 256000 affected babies yearly and notes advances from 50 funded centers and university research in the U.S. and abroad. Aimed at opening doors and hearts to meet the need.

The Rochelle FHA Chapter presents its annual fashion show Tuesday January 12 at 7 30 p m in the school lunchroom. Homemaking students model outfits they made and pre school children join in wearing designs by the girls. The public is invited to attend.

Irvin Wolffarth was discharged from West Texas Hospital in Lubbock after a 15 day stay and returned home to Rochelle in the latter part of December.

Rochelle Gains Girls Victory While Boys Fall To Eden

Rochelle high school split basketball results with Eden in a Tuesday opening district game. The Rochelle girls upset Eden 25 19 as Janet Smith scored 12 and Marilyn Rabon added 10 for Eden. Rochelle boys fell 73 69 led by Robert Stansberry 20 and Wayne Sawyer 3 for Eden while Larry Lee 82 and Wayne Banks 20 paced Rochelle.

Library Report Documents Strong Fourth Quarter Use

Miss Ouida Pruitt reports 6152 books checked out last quarter at R 8 Memorial Library. Adults 1645. non fiction 1700. juvenile fiction 2247. juvenile non fiction 560. Oct 10 had peak 161 checkouts. 39 new adult patrons and 39 new juvenile patrons. Luncheon honors library trustees. nine members attended plus Miss Pruitt and host. They voted 16.16 to the Texas State Library Association scholarship endowment.

Homecoming after three months visit across Texas towns

Mrs. G. L. Seogein of Rochelle returned home Sunday after a three month visit with her children in Zephyr Midland Dimmitt and Brenham. She enjoyed the trip but is glad to be back with her son in law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Wolfarth were mentioned in the return note.

Donor list grows for McCulloch County Fat Stock Show

Donors for the McCulloch County 4 H and FFA Fat Stock Show expand with 37 merchants giving over 600 dollars. The Brady Stamp Commerce Association contributes 225 stamped books. trophies to be awarded by the McCulloch County Livestock Association, Brady Lions Club and Nathan's Jewelers. A large cash donor roster includes Curtis Norman and many Brady businesses. The event features 32 barrows 125 lambs and four calves entered with judging and prizes scheduled across multiple divisions. Brady FFA members enter animals with numerous lambs and hogs listed by name Field representatives Billy Kidd and James Epper son will judge various divisions.

Brady City to Purchase Pioneer Natural Gas Co

City voters will approve a 2% bond issue on January 2 to buy Pioneer Natural Gas Co in Brady. About 6 or 7 of the 10 Pioneer employees will join the city payroll, mainly in the cash department, with others in remaining departments. City officials say retirement benefits can transfer to the Texas Municipal Retirement System with no loss of funds.
