Two Voca irrigation men die in nitro well blast
A. C. Stewart and Daymon Passmore were killed instantly in a nitroglycerine explosion while attempting to shoot a water well on the Passmore place at Voca. The men, longtime irrigation leaders, were rigging a 130 gallon per minute well when the blast occurred about 10 a.m. They are survived by families and will have double funeral services in Brady with burial at Voca Cemetery.

TTA will reroute flights through Brady starting Sunday with a Memphis to San Antonio service and a San Antonio to Memphis connection. Flight 61 leaves Memphis at 6:00 a.m. and Flight 62 departs San Antonio at 3:40 p.m. Both stop Kerrville Brady Brownwood Fort Worth Dallas Texarkana Hot Springs Little Rock Pine Bluff Ark and Memphis.

Course for Grocers Starts Monday Night
Brady grocers and their employes will attend a four night training course at the Chamber of Commerce office from 7 30 to 10 p m Monday through Thursday. The Texas Retail Grocers Association and the Chamber sponsor the program led by Clyde Bennett UT retail training specialist and former Bennett Food Stores owner. Bennett brings 16 years in groceries plus teaching in public schools. The course titled Grocery Checking Procedures covers better customer contacts mental arithmetic standard procedures and actual grocery checking.

School Supt. C. A. Reynolds and coordinator E. O. Martin left Wednesday for Austin to attend the annual administrators conference called by the Texas Education Agency. Alfred Martin of Brady Dies at 82
Alfred Martin, 82, a retired railroad engineer, died Wednesday at his Brady home. Born November 14, 1878 in Mason County, he lived in Brady since about 1940 with his wife. Funeral services were 4 pm Thursday at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Rev. T. K. Anderson officiating. Burial in Rest Haven Cemetery. Survived by wife and sister Mrs. Hattie McCuire of Los Angeles. Pallbearers listed from Mason, Roxton, Edinburg, and Sweetwater.
