A Brady newspaper prints multiple Santa letters from local children listing desired gifts such as Johnny Eagle guns, Tonka Jeeps, bongo drums, a player piano, a guitar, BB guns, toy robots, and games. Authors include Jim Bob Bongo, Kyle Will, Debra Hibbs, David Bishom, Linda Rodgers, Barbara Sue Ake, Ernest Henderson, and Andy McBee, with family notes and Santa cookies.
Mr and Mrs Jack Sloan of San Saba County visited Brady on business noting it had not rained in 93 days in their area. They said cattle were faring well despite dry conditions and were grazing and licking themselves as if it were spring.
