Brady ISD Voters Defeat Bond Issue By 3-1 Margin
Brady Independent School District voters rejected a 4.2 million dollar bond and a maintenance tax increase by about three to one. Unofficial totals show Proposition 1 with 863 against and 342 for. Proposition 2 with 862 against and 323 for. voter turnout was heavy with lines at Brady High School. Superintendent Carroll Tatum said the district has spoken and an immediate second election is not indicated. An ideal fall day aided turnout.

Millersview Doole Water Strikes Salt Water Again
The Millersview-Doole Water Inc. drilled a second well near Melvin by the Salt Gap mountains and struck salt water like the first. The 3,495 foot well proved briny, prompting plans to drill again near Lohn as the project expands to Runnels and Tom Green counties.
