Work Starts Soon On Ford Ranch Dam

A. A. Cox Construction Co. of Corsicana will receive a work order around December 15 to build a detention dam at Site No. 11 on the Ford Ranch. The Brady Creek watershed project by the Soil Conservation Service includes this dam. the low bid was $29,953.65.

Post Office Receipts Rise at Brady Office

Brady post office reports month ending November 1 with receipts totaling 4185.86 dollars, up from 3070.74 dollars last year. Postmaster Mrs. Barry Francks attributes the rise to early Christmas mailing and rainy weather boosting mail volume.

Bloodmobile Collects 42 Pints Despite Low Turnout

The Red Cross bloodmobile drew 42 pints on Wednesday, short of the 70 pint goal, but Farm Bureau and Red Cross officials called the turnout not bad given recent local illness. Farm Bureau sponsored the donor recruitment.

Rochelle Baptists Dedicate Building

The Rochelle Baptist Church sanctuary was dedicated the first Sunday in 1954 after a 1953 fire destroyed the prior edifice. The dedication included a note burning ceremony and a sermon by Rev. Billy McClellan. The church traces back to 1885 with a peak membership in 1940 and current enrollment around 241, with facilities including a seven-room annex and kitchen.

County 4 H Gold Star Winners Named at Brady Party

Tommy Kidd of Rochelle and Jerrilyn Lohn of Brady were named McCulloch County Gold Star boy and girl of the year at the county Achievement Party. The honor was announced by County Agent Jimmy Casenbary as about 100 members and parents attended at Brady Junior High gym. The winners will receive awards at a district Gold Star banquet in San Angelo Saturday.

Mrs William Wilhelm 82 Dies in Brady Hospital

Mrs. Liliian Dale Wilhelm 82 widow of pioneer rancher Frank Wilhelm died at Brady Hospital. Born June 18 1875 in Cherokee she lived much of her life in McCulloch County. Funeral held at First Christian Church with Rev. Ervin R. Watson officiating. Burial at Rest Haven Cemetery. Survivors include sister Mrs. Mattie Peacock of Cherokee and several nieces and nephews.

Two Dates to Keep Bandsmen on Road Friday Saturday

The Brady High Bulldog Band travels this weekend. On Friday they perform for Georgetown Bull dogs, then drive to Winters for the regional Interscholastic League marching contest. They will depart after the game Friday, load buses, and leave about 2 30 p m for Winters. The band marches at 6 30 p m.

Gasoline Truck And Auto Crash on South Bridge Sts

A gasoline truck and a Katemcy man in a 1953 Ford collided at South Bridge and 11th Streets at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday. Both drivers escaped injury as Jack Walker of San Antonio slowed and controlled the truck, while Police Chief Golden Jones praised his handling to prevent a fire.
