McCulloch UF Drive Nears Goal as Campaign Winds Down
McCulloch County United Fund president Jean Williams called a 5 p.m. Thursday meeting at the Chamber of Commerce to wrap up the 1971 drive. Through Wednesday noon the campaign totaled 7,992.90 dollars of a 14,000 dollar goal, with about 6,000 dollars still needed. publicity chair Mrs. Ed Keeling urged renewed donations from citizens who have not given or who can offer more.

Rainy Day Crashes Tally Brady Traffic Troubles
Two accidents occurred on Brady streets Wednesday due to rain slicked surfaces. In the first crash at South Bridge and Eighth, Hilda Carr's car and Bud Jay's pickup sustained severe damage with no injuries reported per Police Chief Dorman Gibbs. The second crash at Seventh and South Blackburn involved H E Stromquist's Dodge, T A Parker Jr.’s pickup, and Bucky Capps's Chevrolet, with Parker hospitalized for chest and stomach pains.

Mrs. R. L. Cervantes, 83, died at 2 15 p m Wednesday in a Dallas hospital. Born June 17 1888 in Mexico she married R L Cervantes in 1904. Surviving are seven sons Joaquin Jack Cervantes San Angelo Severo Leo Joe all Brady Marcus Romulo and Napoleon in Dallas four daughters Mrs William A House Dallas Mrs Eddie Delgado Fort Worth Mrs Henry Peterson Arlington Mrs Tommy Robles Bryan 26 grandchildren eight great grandchildren. Services pending at Wilkerson Funeral Home. She was a housewife and member of St Patrick Church.
