Thirty-three Brady merchants join Heart O Texas shoppers for Red Tag Days on August 29 30. The Standard Herald and Texas Theatre back the event with free movie tonight and free tickets. Over $100 in gifts and merchandise will be awarded.
Dr M B Carroll pastor of East Grand Baptist Church Dallas will preach at First Baptist Brady revival August 24 31 Daily services 930 am and 745 pm with Dr L R Daniel leading singing Friday 8 pm Texas Theatre. Red Tag merchants plan Aug 29 30 sales with free show and prizes at the Texas Theatre.
The Standard will carry complete McCulloch County election returns Saturday night. Run off primary judges are asked to call or bring in results to The Standard at 201 South Bridge Street, Phone 2236, after the final vote is counted and posted on the north bulletin board.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile returns to Brady on Wednesday September 3 at the First Christian Church from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donors are urged as a quota of 70 pints is set and recruiting is led by Brady churches and the Ministerial Alliance under Mrs. Harry Priess.
FB Option Holder Ducats Go On Sale. Reynolds announces that season tickets for option holders in the west grandstand are ready at the city hall tax office starting Aug. 22. Price is $5 for five home games, with $9 buys nine years of option access and reduced future prices. Tickets at the gate remain $1.25.
Mrs Vyvien Duncan along with judges Mrs Aubrey Davee and Jerrilyn Sohn visited eligible 4-H girls Nancy Duncan Nancy Hill Sally Miller Nancy Templeton Pat Malone Ann Wirdell Patsy Engdah and Mary Helen Bratton to assess project work leadership and personal development. The Gold Star Award honors county 4-H achievement with age and service requirements guiding eligibility. The winner will be announced soon.
A barbecue chicken dinner is set for Saturday evening at Willie Washington Park at 6 60 o clock to raise funds for a large power lawn mower and park improvements. Plates are 1 each and deliveries to city limits available. Call A L Reed at 5118 or visit the park for details.
Brady High School announces the 1958-59 majorettes chosen from band camp. Members Brenda Gary Carlene Brown Elene Corder Patricia Gleaton and Porcelia Bell plus alternate Betty Bowden, under director Boyd Hunt, returned from Garner State Park camp near Uvalde after a three-day session.
Vacation Church School begins Monday at 8 30 a m and runs through August 30 with daily sessions from 8 30 a m to 1 15 p m at the Presbyterian Church and Church School Building. The closing program is Sunday at 9 45 to 10 45 a m. Theme is Jesus Christ with activities graded from Kindergarten to Junior High.
Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Stewart and daughter Louise returned this week to their Palmdale home after two weeks visiting Mrs. Stewart's mother Mrs. A C Stewart of Voca. They planned to visit Carlsbad Caverns and the Grand Canyon on their return trip.
In Mc Culloch County a second Democratic primary will feature Judge races and local contests. Voters will decide Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Place No. 1 between Robert W. Hamilton and J Edwin Smith, State Senator 16th District between Louis Crump and Joe Swanner, and Precinct 4 County Commissioner between Pinky Burns and Glenn Smith. Swanner led Crump in the first round by 2,600 votes across 18 counties. Burns faces Smith after leading by 10 votes in Precinct 4. The Standard will tabulate results and invites prompt tallies by phone.
The Brady Country Club grounds will host a 1 p m Friday opening for the new swimming pool. Alderman Harry Priess notes a modest event but invites the public to enjoy the facility. Hours are 10 a m to 7 p m daily except Sundays when it opens at noon. Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. Freddy Lawrence will be one lifeguard. Lawrence Hans of New Braunfels arrives Thursday for a final pool check. The pool was filled Wednesday and features three spray heads at the deep end. the old Brady Water & Light pool remains open at its current prices.
Mrs Ethel Sanders returned from Baltimore Maryland and Washington DC where she attended her daughter's graduation from Church Home and Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore. In Washington she visited her sister Mrs Leo Shinn.
Mrs Victor Lohn and Mrs Dollie Horton of Brady attended services Wednesday in San Antonio for Buddy Smith age about 40 who died there Sunday. He was married to Florene Davis formerly of Brady who attended high school here years ago. Also surviving are two daughters.

The Brady area and part of McCulloch County reported rainfall up to over an inch on Tuesday afternoon. Brady measured .8 inch according to Mrs. J. R. Cochran. The downpour was rapid with gutters running full for several minutes, while the county remains dry and farmers welcome more rain.
Brady residents may water lawns freely as rainfall and fall relief the Brady Water and Light Works reports. Superintendent J C Feazelle thanks residents for cooperation since alternate watering days began and declares the shortage alleviated for now.
W B Browning 66 prominent Doole Stacy area stock farmer died Wednesday in Eden after a year and a half illness. Services were Thursday at Day Loveless Chapel Eden with burial Stacy Cemetery. Survived by his wife Winnie Newton Browning four daughters two sons 12 grandchildren his mother five brothers and numerous relatives.
B C Broad and H D Bradley of Brady attended a District Farm Bureau Policy Development Committee meeting in Brownwood on Monday to discuss agricultural policy issues.
