Howard Payne Expects Record Fall Enrollment
Howard Payne College anticipates a record fall enrollment with a 2 to 4 percent rise over last year’s 1442, as President Dr. Guy D. Newman outlines a combined academic and campus life plan. The 81st session opens Aug. 23 with classes starting Aug. 25, while events include a Founders Day convocation and homecoming. The college expands its programs in Christianity and behavioral science, adds humanities faculty, and names Dr. George C. Pittman as humanities chair. New staff also join in English, languages, and oral communications, including Roy L. Armbrester and Frank L. Brister, with Don Jackson as dean of admissions.
