Woodpile fishermen reel in 260 pounds on Devil's River trip

C A Reynolds, E M Martin, Boyd Hunt, Pat Aran, Jack Roddie, and R A McShan fished Devil's River on the Baker ranch in Val Verde County. They brought in over 260 pounds of yellow cat, pine cat and base on Monday. The largest catfish neared 20 pounds, caught on trotlines, while bass and smaller catfish were hooked with rod and worm or artificial lures. The group enjoyed meals together, with Reynolds noting extra company at each meal. Rain fell elsewhere in Val Verde County, but not on the fishing trip. Tode Parker reported an inch of rain at his ranch along the Voca highway, a hopeful start for moisture this month and next.
