Set-Aside Program Deadline Today
Friday is the last day to sign an intention to draw payment under the set-aside program. John Shurtleff, county executive director of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, explains that earning payment requires setting aside cropland equal to the land where the crop would be planted and notes payments start at $20 per acre. The set-aside amounts are 20 percent of the feed grain base and 75 percent of the wheat allotment, with planting wheat or feed grain to trigger eligibility.
