J L Brooks longtime Braden ton realty figure and Lawson Brooks vice president died at 7 50 PM after a three week illness. He moved from Austell Georgia two years ago and helped form the Lawson Brooks firm with J J Lawson and R E Edwards Sr. He was a Methodist and lived on Fourteenth street with his widow and three children and two brothers in Atlanta and Ackworth Georgia. The body will be shipped tonight via Seaboard Air Line Continued on Page Three.
Three hundred lepers are quarantined in a natural leprosy hospital at Carrville Louisiana, prompting continued coverage on page three as authorities manage the outbreak and safety measures.
The Florida House voted 55 to 38 to refer the anti evolution measure to the judiciary committee after a stormy session. Rep Carr and Rep Harris led the move while Rep Blountstown spoke against the bill. The debate drew large crowds as supporters argued the bill would curb teaching that conflicts with Biblical creation.
New York May 11 The Supreme Court Justice Peters dismissed the suit by the Irish Free State claiming succession to the Irish Republic and entitlement to bonds subscribed for in the United States for the Republican cause He also rejected the claims of Eamon de Valera and trustee O Mara and ruled that the bonds be sold with proceeds returned to original subscribers.
Bradenton resident Harry L. Land, an American aviator who befriended Captain Nungesser in France during World War I, recalls the ace’s bold record and repeated aerial returns after being shot down. Land notes Nungesser is popular in France, red headed, and carries silver plates in his head from wounds.
Reported in New York May 11 AP that volunteers will collect clothing for flood victims Friday with donors asked to telephone scouts. The item also notes Henry Judd Gray and Mrs Ruth Snyder await execution for murder, with appeals planned and life insurance disputes looming.

West Palm Beach May 1 AP former city treasurer F King Edwards was arrested and freed at a preliminary hearing on charges involving 1 005 million in city bonds documents and cash. He still holds city papers though cleared on accounts and refuses to surrender them until released from a 25 000 bond. Edwards plans to heed bond company guidance as a representative visits the city. He moved to West Palm Beach from Cleveland Ohio years ago.
Sailing orders have been issued for 800 Marines to reinforce Admiral Latimer in Nicaragua. The aircraft tender Aroostook left Quantico with six airplanes and aviation personnel and will dock at Charleston to embark 100 men from Parris Island. Another 400 Marines depart Quantico aboard the Medusa via Panama. An additional 300 Marines sail on the Argonne from Perth Amboy Haiti.
The Bradenton city council, after extensive correspondence with bond buyers, votes to seek repeal of the 1925 act allowing expansion of city limits and bond issues. If approved by the legislature, the change would await a June public vote to confirm or shrink the amended boundaries.
The May 1 electrocution of Jim Williams in Putnam County, condemned for first degree murder, was halted. Williams will undergo a sanity examination at Gainesville next Monday after a habeas corpus stay. Governor Martin, following a telegram from State's attorney Adkins, ordered a hospital alienist to inspect Williams.
