Legal Hurdle Delays Montague City Auditorium Bond Vote

A legal technicality blocks a $750,000 bond election for a new municipal auditorium in Montague. The city must post a notice of the council’s intent and reschedules with a meeting set for November 15 to correct forms. Bryan Wasson named Bowie's new police chief with 39 years in service. He holds advanced and instructor certificates from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and Education, has led Abilene and Hamlin police forces, and directed training programs while contributing to a degree program at Hardin Simmons. He served in the Air Force and is active in Texas policing associations and civic groups.

Bowie Public Library Joins Fort Worth Major Resource System

Bowie Public Library is among 26 area libraries approved for membership in the Fort Worth Major Resource System under the Texas State Library Systems Act. Fort Worth Public Library serves as the Major Resource Center, with Arlington, Denton, Haltom City, and Hurst as area libraries and many others as community libraries. Several Bowie band students face disciplinary action after shoplifting incidents at a Haltom City shopping center during a marching contest. school officials are expected to act promptly.
