Plans are set for a March 12 meeting at the Church of Christ in Bowie with Leonard Mullens of Edgefield Dallas preaching and A C Houston leading the singing. Ross Dye notes Mullens is an outstanding preacher who has done notable work at the Dallas church and has appeared on the Abilene Christian select list.
A 1949 Cadillac hearse and ambulance was stolen from Purgess Funeral Home in Bowie amid a two week theft wave across Bowie and nearby areas. Police describe a large black vehicle with blue glass and velvet drapes headed toward Oklahoma. sightings were reported in Alvord Montague and Sa lon a. No arrests reported by press time. Burgess Funeral Home operated as usual despite the crime spree.
School Week observed across Texas March 4 10 draws interest in Bowie. A public meeting at Bowie High School Auditorium at 7 30 pm Friday will review the program after a band concert with Superintendent Claude Thompson urging public attendance.
A few minutes after the Bowie Jackrabbits won the state basketball title in Austin last Saturday organizers planned a salute banquet. Local fans had already secured tickets for the High School Cafeteria event set for Thursday night to honor the team.
The Bowie funeral home purchased a new emergency ambulance and added signal devices and modern equipment to its fleet, enhancing emergency response capabilities.

Brashear began with a two wheel cart 31 years ago and now delivers on Route 2 serving about 120 families. Owens covers Rural Route 1 with about 150 families including Park Springs and Fruitland and will finish 31 years October 1. Both drivers carry Bow ie News bundles weekly and travel daily in all weathers.
The Bowie Jackrabbits clinched their first Texas Interscholastic League state title with a 54 to 34 win over Brenham. They finished the year with 38 victories, set three tournament records, and totaled 169 points across three games, led by Massey Robicheaux Brashier Booher and Robinson on a balanced roster.

The Bowie Independent School District plans a March 17 election at the City Auditorium to authorize $250,000 in bonds to build a new 12 room elementary school on the East Ward School site. The design emphasizes natural light, safety, separate entrances, and modern science and art work spaces.
Several large pasture fires burned more than 10 000 acres across three Montague County areas. The biggest blaze burned about 5 000 acres between Montague Nocona Saint Jo and Bonita with crews from Bowie Nocona and Saint Jo aiding a twelve hour effort. Heaviest losses were Foshee McCall and Joe Benton ranches and a home between Montague and Nocona. A Boedeker ranch fire west of Bowie destroyed a five room dwelling occupied by C D Mobley and scorched over 3 000 acres of grass. Hundreds of fence posts burned as neighbors fought to save property.
Many from Bowie churches plan to attend the Billy Graham Revival Crusade tonight at Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth. The First Baptist Church leads the delegation with a section of seats reserved near the front. Most depart from the church at 5:00 p.m. with others to follow. all meet by 7:15 p.m. at the outside entrance of the Will Rogers Auditorium.
A. B. Beasley at 112 South Cummins Street has been designated the Allis Chalmers tractor and farm machinery dealer for Bowie and surrounding area. He operates a garage and car business with an expanded building housing the farm machinery parts and service department. Beasley, in Bowie about 12 years, reports one of two tractors on hand already sold.
